5 State Parks Near Colorado Springs

We know you’re all excited about hiking this summer, and the coolest thing about Colorado is all the amazing state parks we have access to! What’s even cooler is that there are quite a few within about an hour drive from Colorado Springs, which makes these state parks easily doable to check out in a day. So here are five great state parks to go explore on your next outdoor adventure!

1. Cheyenne Mountain State Park

Cheyenne Mountain State Park is right in our own back yard, so please go support our nearest state park by visiting the trails by biking, hiking, and camping. There’s also a lot of fun activities happening out of here, including wildlife educational opportunities and yoga.

2. Castlewood Canyon State Park

 

This state park is on the eastern side of Colorado Springs up near Franktown, and its natural beauties are really unique to the region. You literally get to hike down through a canyon, which houses vegetation, trees, and a stream to two. It’s definitely an interesting place to hike, climb, and explore.

3. Eleven Mile State Park

Eleven Mile is know for its gorgeous riverside fishing and hiking, and it will be a favorite for you and your family if you love listening to the sound of water running right next to you as you fish, hike, or camp.

4. Spinney Mountain State Park

Spinney is another favorite for fishing and nature gazing. It’s not an overnight place, though, so just make a note that this is for day trips only. However, if you’d love to fish, explore, or just hang out in a beautiful area complete with water and mountains—this is the place for you.

5. Mueller State Park
Mueller State Park is a beautiful area near Divide that has thousands of miles of endless opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, etc. And it’s easy to get to from Colorado Springs, which is a huge plus.
